This was a really quick card, probably 30 minutes from start to finish. The theme was kids so I chose to use the Nate's ABC's cartridge. the ball and layers were cut at 3". All of the papers are from an old stack of 6" x 6" solid papers from my stash. The ribbon is Offray. The gold pieces are hot fix from Walmart. The blue was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I used the 1/2" cut on my corner chomper to round the edges of card and the papers. I still need to put a sentiment on it but couldn't find one I liked, and it's late, so it's blank for now.Saturday, May 7, 2011
NSD challeng #12 - kid theme
This was a really quick card, probably 30 minutes from start to finish. The theme was kids so I chose to use the Nate's ABC's cartridge. the ball and layers were cut at 3". All of the papers are from an old stack of 6" x 6" solid papers from my stash. The ribbon is Offray. The gold pieces are hot fix from Walmart. The blue was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I used the 1/2" cut on my corner chomper to round the edges of card and the papers. I still need to put a sentiment on it but couldn't find one I liked, and it's late, so it's blank for now.NSD #3 - Breast Cancer
I'm not overly pleased with this card but I think it's because I couldn't quite figure out what to put on the banner. I think I would stamp something related to the person it would go to and it might be different for any given person. The center tag can be removed and used as a bookmark or something. The two background pieces are from my stash and the top was ripped off, I don't know who it is. The dot piece was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and the corners were chomped with the corner chomper. The pink paper is DCWV. The ribbon was cut from a Cuttlebug die out of Core'dinations cardstock. I embossed it with the Swiss dots folder and sanded it until the color came through. I bought the ribbon and Joann's before Easter. It is a holiday ribbon.
NSD #2 - Kraft paper
This challenge was to use kraft paper. The card, base of the buffalo are Recollections kraft paper. The sentiment is stamped on the same paper. The background is grunge board inked with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo distress ink. The wood is from the potpourri section at Walmart. The top layer of the buffalo (bison if you want to be technical) is DCWV paper that was embossed with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used Scotch quick dry glue to put the card together. The bison is on the My World cartridge and was cut at 2.5".
National Scrapbook Day - MPS cupcak challenge
This card is for the cupcake challenge at My Pink Stamper. It was the first one of the day. I got started late, consequently I'm behind and have decided to pick a few to do and be happy with what I finish. This card is 4" x 5 1/2". The papers are predominantly DCWV. I think the cupcake is from Simply Charmed. It was cut at 4 1/4". The sentiment was stamped with MS pink ink and cut out with the labels 4 Nestabilities. The cupcake is on an action wobble which adds a little extra fun to the card. I didn't put anything else on the background because there was so much going on with the paper.

Karber Challenge 31

This week's challenge was to include a Karber digi and your favorite embellishments. I chose to use flowers from "Got Flowers" and I-rock heat set gems for my embellishments. I used Prismacolor pencils to color the digi. Still need practice but the card turned out ok. The image and vellum in back of it were cut out with nestabilities. The background paper was from the KI Memories Party pack. The vellum was from Making Memories. The ribbon was from details. The corners were rounded with the We R Memory Keepers corner chomper. I used the 1/4" side. The adhesives used were an ATG gun, mini glue dots and foam squares to pop the girl off the card.
Labels:
Corner chomper,
I-rock,
Nestabilities,
pink ATG,
Prismacolor pencils

Blog design

I really need to spend some time working on blog designing. I like the way my blog looks when I do the preview, but it changes when it goes "live" and it's not what I wanted. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. And to top it all off I had to install Firefox because the new version of IE won't let me post (big shock, I know). Bleh. I'll put a card on here so it doesn't turn into a complete bummer post....I hope;-)
I made this for a friend who has a club at school and they put on a car show just before prom to talk about the dangers of drinking and driving. This is also from the Nifty Fifties cartridge. It was cut at 3 1/4". There are hot fix disk things and papers picked up from all over. I used my I-Rock to attach the disks, I love that thing!! The only paper I'm really sure of is the headlights, which is DCWV glitter paper. I didn't really pay attention because I hadn't planned on posting it.
Nifty Fifties

This card is for a challenge on the Flaunt It Fridays blog. The challenge was to use the car on page 24 of the Nifty Fifties cartridge. You had the option of using another car if you didn't own the cartridge, but I have that one so here it is.
The background paper is from the DCWV Naturals mat stack. There is some Offray ribbon on it behind the car. The car is cut at 1 1/2" (I cut the car once at 2 1/4" but it was WAY too big.) All of the layers were cut at the same size. I used some old metallic paper from my stash and it took 3 tries before I could get the Cricut set to cut it without ripping. It's pretty thin and kept catching in spots. I finally got it to work, yay!
The mats for the sentiment were cut with the Labels 1 Nestabilities. I embossed the green one but not the bronze, it just embossed on its own. I was afraid it would tear if I tried to actually emboss it. I used my pink ATG to adhere the larger pieces and used a Zig 2-way pen on the car. The car is popped up with foam pieces but it's a little hard to see in the picture.
Recipe:
5 1/4" x 4" card base from a Value Pack from Michaels
DCWV Natural mat stack. Bottom piece - 1 1/4"x 5", top piece - 2 1/2" x 5"
Offray ribbon
Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge
Green cardstock - Walmart pack
Beige cardstock - Recollections
Sentiment - TCP Studios - from the graduation set
