Birthday Sundaes: Ribbon

This card is for the Birthday Sundaes challenge. This week there needed to be ribbon on the card. The image is from A Day for Daisies. I colored it with Promarkers. The ribbon is from the clearance section at my Walmart. The paper is all DCWV from a variety of stacks. The sentiment is from the K Andrew Designs Coffee and Tea for You and Me stamp set. I used Stickles on the the frosting and a glitter pen on the flowers and around the cupcake holder. I ran the purple through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. I used my pink ATG gun for the adhesive. I used a Viva Decor pearl pen for the flower centers.

Blue heart

Cricut Cardz Challenge's theme for the week is a heart/thank you card. You could use any cartridge or any color as long as it wasn't pink or red. I used one of the hearts from the "A Child's Year" cartridge. It is cut at 3 1/4" and I dry embossed it with the D'vine Swirls (sp) Cuttlebug folder. It was a little too deep so I flattened it out some. I went around the rose and the outside of the heart with Stickles. The brown piece was cut with the largest Nestability in the set (labels 1) and was embossed with the Swiss dots Cuttlebug embossing folder. The white piece came with the pinking already done and it was embossed with one of the folders from the Sentimentals coordinating set. The colored paper is all from Colorbok, The stamp is from a really old set in my stash and was stamped with brown Momento ink.

Fantabulous Bug

The challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut is to make a bug. I used the cute dragonfly from the Doodlecharms Cricut cartridge. It is cut at 3 1/2". The paper is from the Echo Park "Walk in the park" 6"x6" pad. I love that pad and will be really sad when it's gone:( There is some tone on tone action going on with the ribbon and the background but it looks pretty cute. The ribbon is from Details. The face is a Peachy Keen Stamps mix and match set. The sentiment is from the Joy's Life Lots of Puns set. The teal paper was embossed with a cuttlebug folder and it looks a little like grass. I put some I-rock gems on the wings to add a little bling.

Violin

The challenge at Shopping Our Stash this week was to use vellum or violet or violins. You could use one, two, or all three. Mine kind of uses 2 as there are some purplish shades involved as well as the violin.

I picked up the kraft card bases and matching envelopes at Michael's on Sunday as they were on clearance. I've never used these before so we'll see if I like them. The are A6 size (4.5 x 6.25) which is a little larger than I'm used to. I messed up one cut because I wasn't paying attention and just went back to what I usually do. Thank goodness I had enough left to fix it. The violin was cut from the Cricut Quarter Note cartridge at 3 1/2". The paper is from a Provo Craft Scrap pad that I've had for at least 5 years. This is a birthday card for a friend who just came back from Italy so I thought it was appropriate. The piece under the violin is a 4"x4" square that I dry embossed and then inked with a bronze colored ink. That part is better in person because there is a slight metallic shine to it that doesn't show up in the picture. The piece under the sentiment is glossy paper with alcohol ink on it. I tried to match the colors in the base paper. I've had them for months but it's the first time I've tried using them. I don't have any blending solution and think I need some.

NSD challeng #12 - kid theme

This was a really quick card, probably 30 minutes from start to finish. The theme was kids so I chose to use the Nate's ABC's cartridge. the ball and layers were cut at 3". All of the papers are from an old stack of 6" x 6" solid papers from my stash. The ribbon is Offray. The gold pieces are hot fix from Walmart. The blue was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I used the 1/2" cut on my corner chomper to round the edges of card and the papers. I still need to put a sentiment on it but couldn't find one I liked, and it's late, so it's blank for now.

NSD #3 - Breast Cancer

I'm not overly pleased with this card but I think it's because I couldn't quite figure out what to put on the banner. I think I would stamp something related to the person it would go to and it might be different for any given person. The center tag can be removed and used as a bookmark or something. The two background pieces are from my stash and the top was ripped off, I don't know who it is. The dot piece was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and the corners were chomped with the corner chomper. The pink paper is DCWV. The ribbon was cut from a Cuttlebug die out of Core'dinations cardstock. I embossed it with the Swiss dots folder and sanded it until the color came through. I bought the ribbon and Joann's before Easter. It is a holiday ribbon.

NSD #2 - Kraft paper

This challenge was to use kraft paper. The card, base of the buffalo are Recollections kraft paper. The sentiment is stamped on the same paper. The background is grunge board inked with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo distress ink. The wood is from the potpourri section at Walmart. The top layer of the buffalo (bison if you want to be technical) is DCWV paper that was embossed with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug embossing folder. I used Scotch quick dry glue to put the card together. The bison is on the My World cartridge and was cut at 2.5".

Simply Sunday For the Birds at Getting Cricky

This card is for the Simply Sunday challenge at Getting Cricky with KAndrew (there's a link below). The theme was "for the birds" so I used a bird digi from the internet that I colored with Promarkers. (I can't find the digi anymore and apologize for not giving proper credit to the creator.) After coloring I used a Spellbinders Nestability to cut out the bird and the yellow mat behind it. The yellow piece is Core-dinations whitewash cardstock that I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. I sanded it lightly to bring out the yellow. The background papers are from my stash. I used bakers twine at the bottom of the card. I stamped the "smile" using Tim Holtz distress ink onto one of the circles from the background paper and punched it out with a Martha Stewart punch. I am still in the learning stage with the markers but they are fun to use! I have discovered I need a few more colors to really get the shading done properly.
