This SVG is from a Christmas set from SVG Attic. I changed it up and made a cute book mark box. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or give it to my daughter since she is teaching reading this year.

The image on the cover is from the Autumn Celebrations image set. I used A Child's Year for the font (I think). I'm debating filling the holes with brads or something. I'm not sure yet, what do you think?

Here is is laying down so you can see the dimension a little better. I hope you enjoyed my project. Please make something of your own and come join us this wee.

Back to School at BBTB2

It's back to school time almost everywhere at this point The kids here went back last week. One down, many more to go.

My images are from Autumn Celebrations, Paper Doll Teen Scene and Printing 101. I used some faux metal paper from Recollections for the lockers and it was a pain in the tush to photograph (but it looks cool on the card!)

I hope everyone has a safe return to school and that all the kiddos out there have a great year (teachers too, of course).

Life and lemons

This week has been a bit of a challenge. It was the first week of school with students, we had the threat of a tropical storm and a really good friend of mine passed away. Lemons seemed kind of appropriate for this card.

The image is from A Day for Daisies that I colored with Promarkers. The plaid paper is from ki memories. The solid scraps from another project and the white is just my go to white from my stash. I used the de-bossed side of the white paper as I like the way it looked a bit more. I am entering this into the following challenges:

A Day for Daisies - Add Plaid
CASology - Plaid

Celebrate Friends...

The theme this week at BBTB2 is "friends". We start school today, so I made a super quick card as I have been crazy busy this week getting ready.

I love these elephants from the Holiday Cakes image set. I put in one, duplicated it and then flipped it (reflected it around the y-axis for you math people out there). The paper is Mary Englebreit I got from Michael's a couple of years ago. The solid color paper is Recollections, as usual. There is some Wink of Stella on the hearts and the sentiment. There is also some Glossy Accents on the ears and tales. I used some hemp twine for the yellow accent under the elephants. There are also a few sequins sprinkled around for fun.

Here is the link to the file in Design Space if you would like it.

If school started in your area this week, please have a safe one!

The fruits of summer at BBTB2

We have been enjoying some fresh pineapple at my house this summer, which is a little different for us, so I thought I would use it in my project. The pineapple is from the Preserves cartridge.

The circle around the back is form Elegant Edges. I did a search under "all images" to find a flag that I liked and adjusted it to what I wanted. I don't remember which one I picked. There is a bit of Wink of Stella on the flower and there are layered sequins on the side of the flag. The solid paper is Recollections and the patterned is from Webster's Pages.

I missed ...

the deadline for this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch, but wanted to post my card anyway. I like the way it turned out. I enjoyed the sketch and actually have a few more designed based on the sketch, including some Halloween cards. Hopefully it will translate well.

The koi is from the Art Nouveau cartridge, one of my favorites. I'm planning on going back to Tuesday Morning Sketch this week and hopefully get a project done on time. It's pre-planning week at my school so we'll see if it actually happens.

Recipe:
Cricut Design space - Art Nouveau, Pretty Pennants, Home Accents (I think, can't find it again)
Paper - Recollections
Embossing folder - Darice circles
Adhesive - ATG 1/4" tape, Tombow mono-multi

Let them eat cake

Melanie's challenge this week at Bitten by the Bug 2 is to make a project with a birthday cake. I used an image from "Tie the Knot" for my cake. I liked all of the designs on the frosting.

The background vellum layer is from Paper Lace 2.

There is such a difference when you photograph cards against different backgrounds. This one is closer to the actual pinks, but the black looks better on the top one. Weird, huh.

This is the inside of the card, so there is no mistaking that it's for a birthday.

I had a couple of technical difficulties that changed some things a bit this week. First, my Explore would not cut the background of the cards correctly. It told me to contact customer service, but they weren't open while I was making it so I improvised and cut the back with my paper cutter so it's straight. I also updated to Windows 10 and lost my photo editing software as it was a download many years ago, and I can't find my backup disk. It has been a bit frustrating.

New things!!

I am really excited to announce that I was chosen to be on the design team at
Bitten By the Bug 2! I really love my Cricut, and the more opportunities to use it, the better.

The challenge for the week is "Cool Down by the Sea".

I used images from three cartridges: Frozen (obviously), Summer Love, and Ocean of Words.
The paper is all Recollections except for the white. I really had a lot of trouble with the white, so maybe I should have changed paper. There is some clear Wink of Stella on the clouds and Olaf to give them that sparkly sun feel. The inside of the card says "and the living is easy"*, which is totally Olaf's attitude.

Come play along with us and enjoy some summer sun and ocean breezes.

*The sentiment is from KAndrew Designs which is no longer in production.

Use a Sketch

Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday...

Challenge #257 Use a Sketch
Make a project using this sketch from Seize the Sketch!

This Weeks Sponsor:

The winner will receive one free class (up to $25!)

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

Here is my take on the sketch. I decided to make a shaker card just for fun. There are a lot of layers on this card that aren't really showing on the card.

There are images from four different sets on this card. The koala is from the Australia set. The others are from Bits and Pieces, Elegant Edges, and Classroom. I'll list the patterned papers below. The solids are all Recollections. The sentiment is from Joy's Life Lots of Puns stamp set. It was a little boring with just the plain grey paper so I made dots all along the edge with an American Crafts pen.

Recipe:
Little Yellow Bicycle - Poppy 6x6
Pebbles - Walnut Grove 6x6
Ki Memories - Bright Geo
Recollections solid card stock
Joy's Life - Lots of puns
Cartwright - sequins
Foam tape - Dollar Tree
ATG 1/4" tape
Tombow mono-multi adhesive
Rubber Stampede Ink
American Crafts blue pen
