Nativity or Menorah at BBTB2

DT sister Susan asked us to make a Menorah or Nativity project this week at BBTB2. Here is my Menorah card, it's almost the same as hers (hers is prettier), weird huh?

I used elements from the Family Album image set to create the card. It's supposed to be a scrapbook layout but I resized some of the elements and removed others. Here is a link to the DS file if you would like it. Everything is in the subscription so you should be able to cut it if you have that.

I have very little Christmas shopping done and nothing mailed. Everyone is going to be out of town so they'll get it when they get back. We have to go to school through Wednesday and it has thrown off my normally late timeline. Now it's just ridiculous! I hope everyone has a peaceful holiday season.

Christmas Wording at BBTB2

This week at BBTB2 our DT sister, Caroline, chose Christmas wording as the theme.  I made this free box from Dreaming Tree and added the "Happy Holiday's" ornament from the Merry and Bright Cricut image set.

The box was really easy to create and is a pretty good size. It's about 4.5" tall so it could probably hold a candle or a demitasse cup (or of course candy) fairly easily. It's getting crazy busy in my world with Christmas and basketball season so I may be hit or miss for a while. I hope everyone enjoys the Holidays!

Christmas at FCCB - #291

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge! This is our last challenge for 2016, so be sure to check back with us in January after the holidays.

Merry Christmas!

Here is my project:

I used this cute, free files from Digiplayground to create a few little nifty gifties for the Christmas season. They whip up pretty quickly and are adorable when they are done.

They hold exactly 6 Andes mints perfectly and will be great little "thinking of you" presents without going over the top. The paper is all Recollections and the image is from the Teresa Collins "Deck the Halls" Cricut image set.

I know it's beginning to be really hectic in most people's lives at this point, but take a quick break and play along with this fun challenge! Have a happy holiday season!

Twist and pop card

I made this card for a challenge on Koala T Crafts FB page. It's a fun group if you're interested. Jen Evers (Koala T. Crafts) has a video here if you are interested in what makes it twist and pop. It may need some embellishments on the front.

The front is a Tim Holtz Sizzix die. The sentiment and the coffee cup on the inside are from Unity Stamps. I've really been enjoying them lately. I left the spot on the right open for writing or another sentiment stamp.

I created a Cricut file for the mechanism piece that makes the twist. Here is the link.

They are fun to make and I may try to whip up one or two more before Christmas.

Here is my project:

I used gold and orange vinyl on a deep red charger for my project today. It's from the Intricate Seasonal Art image set. The bow is made from some ribbon I had in my stash. It looks better in person. You can see the red woven into the gold more.

Flourishes at BBTB2

It's a week full of flourishes at Bitten by the Bug 2. My card is quick and simple, it's been a crazy week. This is for a friend who is coming back to work after her sister passed away this week.

The patterned paper is cut from the Tie the Knot image set. I welded a sentiment from Cake Basics and a flourish from Wall Decor and More to get the sentiment.

I will be taking a bit of a break from BBTB2. I will participate occasionally for the next few weeks, but it's a crazy time at school and I am having a hard time keeping up with everything. Hopefully I'll be back full time fairly soon.

Football at BBTB2

I got to choose the challenge this week at BBTB2 and I picked "football" (whatever that means to you). For some people it will be American football, for others it may mean soccer.
Things have still been crazy here with the aftermath of hurricane Matthew and the end of the first quarter of school so I made a quick card for my project.

I chose images from Sports Mania for the front of the card and Phrases for the card base. I did some slicing to create the dark brown piece to match the front of the card. It's embossed with a Tim Holtz textured impression folder. The paper is not all Recollections for a change. There is some Bazzill thrown in the mix this time.

Come join us with a "your idea of fooball" project.

It's Halloween at BBTB2

DT sister, Laurie, chose Halloween for the theme this week at BBTB2. I love making things for Halloween but it has been a crazy couple of weeks and I didn't get this done till the last minute (again). It still turned out pretty cute.

I used images from the Creepy Critters, Gothic Graveyard and Mother's Day Bouquet image sets. It's an odd combination, but they still worked well for what I wanted. The ghost is attached to the coffin top with a piece of acetate. The leaves worked nicely to hide the bottom that was glued on. Mr. Ghost is double sided and grinning at you from either direction. I think I may put this on my desk at work with some Halloween treats inside.

Have a great week and join us for some spooky fun!

Alaska - Skagway

It's been a while since I did an Alaska post. School has been really busy this year and it has fallen by the wayside. Since we are out for 2 more days, thank you hurricane Matthew (sarcasm), I decided to take a few minutes and do at least one more (if the internet cooperates).

It was interesting to look out the window the morning we arrived in Skagway and see this.

It was fun to start reading them after getting over the surprise. They are scattered on the mountainside all the way to town. Some people had addendums to their originals several years later.

The walkway to town

Information signs

We all kind of did our own things that day. Marty, Val, Fran and I made our way to town mid morning and walked around for a while.

Snow
The snow is very deceptive, it was really warm that day. It was actually the warmest day of the trip. It was 80+ degrees and the kids who were working in town were very vocal about it. Most of the stores don't have air conditioning because it's not needed most of the time. They made the kids wear long pants to work anyway and they were not happy about it. I don't blame them, it would have been miserable when you're not used it!

Salmon hatchery
We met some very knowledgeable young men (ages 9-12 ish) on the way to town and they filled us in on the large round metal thing in the middle of the water. They informed us that it was a salmon hatchery that wasn't being used because there happened to be an over abundance of fish and they needed it.

Lots of driftwood

Movie Night at BBTB2

Well, I didn't work ahead this week and almost didn't get this done at all. Thank you hurricane Matthew! I just got internet back this afternoon and put a super quick project together. It will go to a recently retired co-worker who is doing film reviews on FB. I will probably add a bit to it, but the basic piece will not change.

This is from the Word Collage image set. I cut it from Oracal 651 and placed it on the canvas I had coated with Mod Podge. It went together really quickly.

I hope everyone affected by the hurricane is getting back to normal. Join us with your movie themed project.

I used the the K-cup treat cutting file from PPPR  and a pumpkin from Cricut's Autumn Celebrations. The paper is all Recollections and I used 2 different embossing folders, some washi tape and twine to finish of my project. It will be great to share a pumpkin spiced treat with a friend.

Frame it up at BBTB2

This week at Bitten by the Bug 2 my DT sister, Laurie, asked us to create projects with a Cricut frame in them. I chose this frame from Disney Princesses Happily Ever After image set.

I created the circle card from basic shapes and used one of the fonts I have downloaded for the sentiment. All of the paper is Recollections. I also used a Cricut Cuttlebug folder in the background. There is Wink of Stella on the pink pieces, and there is Lindy's Stamp Gang spray on the green. It's actually quite shiny even though it doesn't show in the picture.

Come join us with your own frame project!

Retro at BBTB2

The theme this week at BBTB2 is retro. I chose this cool jukebox from the Nifty Fifties image set. It's turned out pretty fun. You could change the background colors and it would be great for a guy's card.

All of the paper is Recollections. I used some silver and clear Wink of Stella and some Glossy Accents on it for some interest. The only down side was the paper warped a bit where the glossy accents was put on. Oh well, live and learn.

Apples at BBTB2

Caroline chose the theme of Apples for this week's challenge at BBTB2. My project was made using the 3D Lanterns and Home for the Holidays.

It's open on the bottom so I can put it over another candle quickly. I love quick change decorations. The paper is Recollections and the vellum is from Hobby Lobby. There is some Wink of Stella on the apple. I used "hide contour" on the side with the apple because it didn't stand out with all of the cuts behind it. The twine is from the dollar spot at Target.

Cute Little Monster at BBTB2

My DT sister Valentyna chose the theme "cute little monster" for this week's challenge at BBTB2. We were to use a monster or an arrow on a card for a male I made a couple of different cards for this challenge that incorporate both. They could be for many different occasions. The card base for both cards is the Heart card from Creative Cards. I hid the heart and just used the background pieces.

This cute little guy is from the Bump in the Night image set. I love his mustache. I used some marker on his main body to create a furry look. There is some Glossy Accents and Wink of Stella on him as well. The dots were done with a gold marker.

This funky monster is from the Disney Best of Pixar image set. I really like all of his eyes. His eyes are actually silver and not grey. It adds a little something extra when you see it in person.

This is a good side by side of how easy it is to just make a couple of changes in paper or color and get completely different looks with almost the same pieces on a card.

Come join us with your monster/arrow creations.

Embossing at FCCB - #285

Here is my Project:

I used a canvas and made kind of a multi-media project this week. There are several layers of medium and paint behind the image. I found this hilarious Stella image at Bugaboo and couldn't resist. You can find it here. I colored it with a combination of Promarkers and Spectrum Noirs. The bird is from 3 Birds on Parade. There is wet embossing on the bells and the necklace on the image and there is dry embossing on the bird's wings.

It was fun to do something a little different this week. Come join us with your embossed creations and you could win a wonderful prize.

Focus on You at BBTB2

Susan chose the theme this week at Bitten By the Bug 2. We were supposed to use glasses on our project. I went a bit outside the box with my project. I love Halloween so when I saw these adorable vulture glasses on the Life's a Party image set I could not pass them up.

The "spooktacular" is from the Thoughts and Phrases image set. The ghosts are from Monster Bash. The paper is all Recollections, some with clear Wink of Stella on it. There are some Sickles on the ghosts for a bit more sparkle. I used a striped embossing folder on the purple paper and decided the debossed side looked better than the embossed side as I was putting the card together. I picked up the Washi tape at Tuesday Morning. Have a great week!

Back to School at BBTB2

Michelle chose the Back to School theme for our projects this week. Sadly it is a bit late for me. We have been back at school for 2 weeks already, 3 if you count pre-planning. I made this to give to one of our new teachers as a little encouragement.

The card base is from Creative Everyday cards. The sentiment is from Thoughts and Phrases and the oval is a free shape in Design Space. I used some white gel pen to add a little interest. Come join us at BBTB2 and share your Back to School projects with us.

Flower challenge at BBTB2

Melanie chose the theme of summer flowers for the challenge this week. I found a cool card fold I wanted to try and attempted to recreate it in Design Space. It worked, sort of. I still had to do some adjustments after it cut.

The flower is from Spring Fling and the yellow piece is from Elegant Edges. All of the other pieces are just basic shapes that are free in DS. The embossing folder is from Darice and the paper is Recollections.

Create your own flower card and share what you created, we love to see!

Wedding/Anniversary challenge at BBTB2

Our DT sister, Maureen, is having an anniversary this week so she chose that for the challenge theme. My card is really simple, but the Cricut did a lot of work. The tree was drawn on the paper by the Cricut and I used some watercolors to fill in the leaves and the heart. The tree is from Photo Fun and the sentiment is from Elegant Cakes.

The "Happy" on the sentiment is less than an inch tall. There is a lot of detail in that little word. I made it pretty simple since I wanted the tree to stand out. Have a wonderful week. The paper is all Recollections as usual.

Vacations at Fantabulous Cricut

The prize is 7 digital stamps!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

My project this week is one of the "make it now" choices on Design Space. I really wanted to see what it would look like in person so I went for it. I was lucky enough to go on a cruise this summer, though I should have changed the palm tree to a moose or something since I went north instead of south. I think I will print some of my picture and keep them in this cute thing. There is a hook and loop tape closure so they would stay in nicely.

All of the paper, with the exception of the gold, is Recollections. The gold has been in my stash for a number of years now. I will hate it when I run out.

Come join us with your vacation project.
