Ornament challenge

The Bitten by the Bug 2  challenge this week is to do something with an ornament, either make one or make a card with one on it. Since I'm so late starting I chose to do the card.

The ornament is from the Winter Wonderland cartridge. There are some wonderful images on that cartridge. The patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye Found Christmas. I cut it in such a way that the image on the paper became the sentiment on the front of the card. So quick and easy! The solid paper is Recollections, the metallic is DCWV. I used some clear Wink of Stella on the berries.

Mojo Monday entry

I decided at the last minute to enter a couple of the weekly challenges that I really miss doing. This is Mojo Monday's for 12/15. It's not a great card, but it was pretty quick.

I designed the card in Design Space using the sketch and used the Winter Wonderland cartridge for the snowflake.

MCCR - Penguins

Ok, I have to admit I picked this post to do because my daughter LOVES penguins! She's all grown up, but they still bring out the kid in her.

Create a Critter and Create a Critter 2 have the best images for cards. This holiday guy is such a cutie. I cut him at 3" from Recollections card stock. The tree is from the Simply Charmed cartridge. I hid the face and shrunk it down so it would fit under the sentiment. There is red Stickles and Glossy accents on the sentiment as well as red, green and clear Stickles on some different pieces of the card. The embossing folder used in the background is from Darice. Those snowflakes in the corner were cut on the Explore at 3/4". This machine rocks!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

MCCR - Gingerbread

This card was made using images from Create a Critter 2 in Design Space.

All of the card stock is Recollections. The printed is from a 6 x 6 pack from last Christmas. These are such cute images and are super easy to work with. I added some red Stickles and some Glossy accents for a little dimension. It will be great to mail.

~This Weeks Challenge~
Create any project, that is not a card!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

My project this week is a gift rather than a decoration. My sister has 3 adorable grandbabies and I am sending each of them one of these for Christmas.

I'm still relatively new to the whole vinyl thing and had a little bit of trouble getting all the layers to work. It still turned out pretty cute. He loves tractors, and there's a bit of family history with John Deere,  so it should be a hit anyway. This cut came from the My World Classmates cartridge. There are some great cuts on the My World and My Community cartridges, check them out.

Have a great week everyone!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #238 - Thanksgiving

Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday...

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #238 Give Thanks
Thank You or Thanksgiving Card

This Weeks Sponsor

In honor of Thanksgiving I made this card with one of my favorite cartridges, Teddy Bear Parade. Yes, I have the subscription to Design Space, but I was so excited that this cartridge was in the November mystery box (see last post - and I'm sure there will be more). Now I can use it even if I decide not to keep the subscription, yeah!

To be honest, I'm not really thrilled with how the card turned out, but that's ok. I thought using the metallic paper (clearance at Michael's) would be good in the background, but I think it's too much. Plus, being the procrastinator I am and having a busy week at work, I had to take pictures before the Glossy Accents dried completely and it looks a little weird (and yes, I used my heat gun).

The turkey bear was cut at 3" out of Recollections solid card stock and DCWV metallic card stock. There is a random piece of yellow in there that is stash paper. The circles are Spellbinders dies. I mentioned I used Glossy Accents on the red piece. There is some inking with Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and those in the US have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Football Bear

I made this quick and simple card today from the Teddy Bears on Parade cartridge. I was beyond excited when I found out it was in the November Mystery Box!!

The bear is cut at 3". I used our school colors for his uniform so I can give it to one of our athletes if I want to. All of the solid card stock is Recollections. The patterned paper is from 7 Gypsies. The bear and the MVP are on different thicknesses of foam tape to add some different dimensions.

These bears are so adorable it's hard to mess them up, thank you Cricut!

MCCR - Teens

Welcome to my Design Team day at My Cricut Craft Room. The theme for today is teens. I teach high school so I am very familiar with the topic. I went with a girl theme card today after I found this cute image from the Summer Celebrations cartridge on Cricut Design Space.

I just put "hello" on the front because that left it a little more versatile. Other sentiments can be added on the inside to make the card more pertinent to a particular situation.

The patterned paper is from a Colorbok 6x6 pad I picked up at Walmart a couple of years ago. I love all of the fun colors. The solid cardstock is Recollections brand and the stamp is from Heidi Swapp. I used Ranger Archival black ink to stamp with. The girls were cut at 3" on my Explore. I did put some glossy accents here and there just to add some shine and texture to the card. Now I just need to figure out who it needs to go home with.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday.

FCCB Challenge #236 - sketch

This sketch looked really masculine to me, so I took advantage of that and made my brother-in-law a card for his 50th birthday. I like the way it turned out. The "extreme" is from the Dude cartridge and the truck is from the Father's Day cartridge. The font is Simple Celebrations and the 50 is a digital number that you can search.

DT day at My Cricut Craftroom

The theme for today was everyday. I took that to a bit of a different place and created this card. I found something similar on Pinterest and scraplifted it with several changes.

Front
I used a flower from the Don Juan cartridge for the front and the inside. I love how you can take one simple image and do so many different things with it when you use the Explore! I cut the original flower for the base (reflected), and then used the slice feature to cut off the stem for the top flower layer. I know I could have just cut it off, but I'm still learning so I like to try new things when I can.

Inside

For the inside I reduced the image size and changed it to writing. I like that it continues the image inside the card without adding bulk. I inked around the front and inside rectangles with Vintage Photo Distress ink.

Here is a closeup of the flower center. I cut a black circle the size of the center and glued it to the flower. It looked a little plain, so I decided to try some Glossy Accents. It was good, but the card seemed to need a bit more color. I added some micro-beads to the glossy accents. It was kind of cool, they just sunk right in and made a lumpy flower center. I decided to add another layer of Glossy Accents to get a smoother appearance. I think this will have to happen a few more times before I tire of it and move on to something new.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Here's the product information for this card:
Recollections solid color card stock
Micro-beads from my stash
Tombow mono-multi liquid adhesive
ATG gun and 1/4" tape
Glossy Accents
American Crafts Precision pen/black
Cricut pen/silver
Pearls from Recollections
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
KI Memories Berry Blast patterned paper

Playing on the Explore - file share

I was playing in Design Space today to make some tea light holder for Halloween. There was a definite learning curve with the slice feature, but I finally got it to work.

The mistake I made on this one was not measuring the tab for putting them together. It was easily remedied by cutting off the tabs a bit, but hopefully I will remember next time I do this.

With the light - sorry about the bad picture:/

This one is a little more friendly for those of you who don't like scary. I'm not sure why my camera wouldn't focus, this was the best shot of the bunch.

All of the images are Cricut so I can share. Here's the link if you want to try one. These only have faces on two sides, I left the extra faces on the mat in case you want to add more.

Hope that works. Have fun!

MCCR - Retro

Today's theme at My Cricut Craft Room is Retro. I used a couple of images from the Nifty Fifties cartridge to create this card. I am really enjoying the new slice feature on Design Space. It's been fun to play with and is allowing me to add dimension to my cards in different ways.

I also used the writing feature on this card. I used an American Crafts purple marker, and the font from the Billionaire cartridge, to create the sentiment.

You can see some of the dimension on these two shots.

I cut the background from the tennis shoe image out of the middle of the solid card stock using the slice feature, then changed the color of the paper so I could cut that piece from the patterned paper. It was nice to not have to re-size things, just cut. I have the pink piece left from the front and will insert that on the inside of the card. I ended up with more negative space than a pile of piece stacked on top of each other. Kind of cool. Hope everyone has a great day!

Mickey, Minnie and Me Blog Hop with MMCR

Thank you for joining us on My Cricut Craft Room's Minnie, Mickey and Me Blog Hop

Today I made a glass cutting board with my first ever split design!  I have the Disney cartridges so I can play with them in Design Space. The image is from the Mickey and Friends Cartridge.  I split it myself using the slice feature (can't wait to play with that more!) and inserted the name.

I did remember to reverse the image before I cut, yay!  There are some bubbles, but not as many as it looks like there are in the picture. The top has a textured surface so it photographs kind of funky.

Pun Fun at FCCB

Hello, Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday

$15.00 Giftcard

For my card today I used an image from Groovy Times in Cricut Design Space. I've found myself in need of some cards for guys recently and thought this would be a great opportunity to make something.

The sentiment is from KAndrew Designs (sadly no longer in production) and it lent itself really well to this challenge. The papers are all Recollections. I think the embossing folder is from Darice, and the silver dots are from my stash.

I hope everyone has a great week. Remember to join us for some punny fun!

Disney fun at MCCR

It's Disney day at My Cricut Craft Room. I love Disney!! This card was made using an image from Mickey and Friends in Design Space. Minnie is cut at 4".

All of the solid paper is Recollections. The embossing folder used behind Minnie is from Darice (I think). The sentiment is from KAndrew Designs*. It was cut out with a My Creative Time die.

I found another sentiment I wanted to use, so I made another card. It didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to, but it's ok.

I had trouble cutting one of the light blue papers so I ended up cutting the eyes in white and coloring them with a Promarker pen to get the look Iwanted. That worked pretty well. This image is from The Best of Pixar cartridge.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

FCCB Shape Up

Hello, Welcome to another Challenge Me Monday

Challenge #230 Shape Up
Make a shaped card (any shape but rectangle or square)

This Weeks Sponsor

SVG Attic

$15.00 Giftcard

~Design Team Inspiration~

This week's Challenge:
Shape Up: Make a shaped card

I went a little overboard with the cards this week. They are all from Wild Cards 2 or Greeting Cards Inside and Out, which you can use with print and cut. All of them will fit into A2 envelopes.

I made this for a friend who just bought her first house. The colors are really her (I don't know if they are her house or not, but I bet they will be). The papers are Recollections with the exception of the gold on the bottom which is from Tuesday Morning. There is clear Wink of Stella on the windows and tree, and silver on the clouds. I'm thinking I may need to add more to the clouds. Any advice on that would be appreciated!

Here's another from the Wild Card 2 cartridge. I just thought it was cute. I don't have any plans for it, but I'm a teacher so I'm sure I can find something to do with it.

This is the card I made with the new print and cut feature on the Cricut Explore. If my printer and Explore were on the same floor of my house it would have probably taken less that 5 minutes to make. As things are right now I spend more time hooking and unhooking cords to make one of these projects than it's worth. I think I need to start looking into wireless

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and joins us for our shape card challenge!.
