Flourishes at BBTB2

It's a week full of flourishes at Bitten by the Bug 2. My card is quick and simple, it's been a crazy week. This is for a friend who is coming back to work after her sister passed away this week.

The patterned paper is cut from the Tie the Knot image set. I welded a sentiment from Cake Basics and a flourish from Wall Decor and More to get the sentiment.

I will be taking a bit of a break from BBTB2. I will participate occasionally for the next few weeks, but it's a crazy time at school and I am having a hard time keeping up with everything. Hopefully I'll be back full time fairly soon.

Football at BBTB2

I got to choose the challenge this week at BBTB2 and I picked "football" (whatever that means to you). For some people it will be American football, for others it may mean soccer.
Things have still been crazy here with the aftermath of hurricane Matthew and the end of the first quarter of school so I made a quick card for my project.

I chose images from Sports Mania for the front of the card and Phrases for the card base. I did some slicing to create the dark brown piece to match the front of the card. It's embossed with a Tim Holtz textured impression folder. The paper is not all Recollections for a change. There is some Bazzill thrown in the mix this time.

Come join us with a "your idea of fooball" project.

It's Halloween at BBTB2

DT sister, Laurie, chose Halloween for the theme this week at BBTB2. I love making things for Halloween but it has been a crazy couple of weeks and I didn't get this done till the last minute (again). It still turned out pretty cute.

I used images from the Creepy Critters, Gothic Graveyard and Mother's Day Bouquet image sets. It's an odd combination, but they still worked well for what I wanted. The ghost is attached to the coffin top with a piece of acetate. The leaves worked nicely to hide the bottom that was glued on. Mr. Ghost is double sided and grinning at you from either direction. I think I may put this on my desk at work with some Halloween treats inside.

Have a great week and join us for some spooky fun!

Alaska - Skagway

It's been a while since I did an Alaska post. School has been really busy this year and it has fallen by the wayside. Since we are out for 2 more days, thank you hurricane Matthew (sarcasm), I decided to take a few minutes and do at least one more (if the internet cooperates).

It was interesting to look out the window the morning we arrived in Skagway and see this.

It was fun to start reading them after getting over the surprise. They are scattered on the mountainside all the way to town. Some people had addendums to their originals several years later.

Information signs

We all kind of did our own things that day. Marty, Val, Fran and I made our way to town mid morning and walked around for a while.

Snow
The snow is very deceptive, it was really warm that day. It was actually the warmest day of the trip. It was 80+ degrees and the kids who were working in town were very vocal about it. Most of the stores don't have air conditioning because it's not needed most of the time. They made the kids wear long pants to work anyway and they were not happy about it. I don't blame them, it would have been miserable when you're not used it!

Salmon hatchery
We met some very knowledgeable young men (ages 9-12 ish) on the way to town and they filled us in on the large round metal thing in the middle of the water. They informed us that it was a salmon hatchery that wasn't being used because there happened to be an over abundance of fish and they needed it.

Movie Night at BBTB2

Well, I didn't work ahead this week and almost didn't get this done at all. Thank you hurricane Matthew! I just got internet back this afternoon and put a super quick project together. It will go to a recently retired co-worker who is doing film reviews on FB. I will probably add a bit to it, but the basic piece will not change.

This is from the Word Collage image set. I cut it from Oracal 651 and placed it on the canvas I had coated with Mod Podge. It went together really quickly.

I hope everyone affected by the hurricane is getting back to normal. Join us with your movie themed project.

Pumpkins at FCCB - #287

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

This Weeks Sponsor

And we are giving away a $25 Amazon gift certificate, courtesy of Penny Light!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

Here is my project:

I used the the K-cup treat cutting file from PPPR  and a pumpkin from Cricut's Autumn Celebrations. The paper is all Recollections and I used 2 different embossing folders, some washi tape and twine to finish of my project. It will be great to share a pumpkin spiced treat with a friend.

Frame it up at BBTB2

This week at Bitten by the Bug 2 my DT sister, Laurie, asked us to create projects with a Cricut frame in them. I chose this frame from Disney Princesses Happily Ever After image set.

I created the circle card from basic shapes and used one of the fonts I have downloaded for the sentiment. All of the paper is Recollections. I also used a Cricut Cuttlebug folder in the background. There is Wink of Stella on the pink pieces, and there is Lindy's Stamp Gang spray on the green. It's actually quite shiny even though it doesn't show in the picture.

Come join us with your own frame project!
