Rolled Flowers
The challenge at Christmas Card Challenge this week was to use rolled paper flowers. I used the Flower Shoppe cartridge and cut the Fun center at 3". The paper is just Christmas paper, not cardstock, that I've had for at least 5 years. It felt good to use it. The background patterned paper is from DCWV (2010 I think). The twine is Martha Stewart baking twine that I inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Everything was inked with that, actually. The sentiment is from the K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes stamp set. The sentiment is stamped on a piece of kraft cardstock that I tore the edges off of. The piece of kraft behind the patterned paper is crumbled and distressed to add a little dimension without making the card too bulky. The sentiment is on 1/16" foam tape.

Peachy Keen Sketch challenge
Two posts today, oh joy! (lol) This card is for the Peachy Keen Sketch challenge. I stayed very true to the sketch for this card. I may add some buttons or something at the top of the banners, but I'm not sure yet so I posted anyway. The patterned paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Pixie-licious 6x6 paper pack. The yellow solid is from The Paper Studio and the blue is from my stash (one of the mixed packs but not sure if it's from Michael's or JoAnn's). The stamp is from Peachy Keen, naturally. The sun and banners are popped up in 1/16" foam dots. I ran out of ATG tape today so the rest is glued down with Scotch Quick Dry.
The sun is cut out with a Spellbinders Nestability die.
This shows the sentiment a little better. |
Random Post
School's out and I have more time to craft, yea! I've been wanting to use the K Andrew Designs "Of Mice and Lil Men" stamps on some Disney cards and now I can. This is an A2 size card. Micky is cut from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge at 3 1/2". The silhouette is cut at 1 1/4". There were very few pieces on the larger cut which, as most of you know, is unusual for a Disney cart. The red paper is from The Paper Studio, the Mickey paper is the Disney line from Sandy Lion. The polka dots is a Recollections piece. I punched the black behind the dots with an EK Success postage stamp punch. Mickey is on 1/8" foam dots and the sentiment is on 1/16" foam tape as I didn't want it to be up as high as Mickey. As I mentioned earlier, the sentiment is from the "Of Mice and Lil Men" stamp set and there are several more cards I want to do with this set. (She makes great stamps!) Hope everyone is having a good summer so far. Mine has been interesting (we'll just leave it at that, maybe another post).

Christmas card
The challenge this week at Christmas Card Challenge was to use wood grain on the card. This turned out very non-traditional as far as color is concerned because I ran with the wood theme. It's pretty cute, though. I cut a window in the card base using a Spellbinder nestability die and then cut a hole in the wood grained paper (DCWV) with the next larger die. You can see below that there is a hole in the top layer. I stamped the deer through the window so it would be centered. I used Versamark ink and embossed it with black Martha Stewart embossing powder. I bought the stamps 2 or 3 Christmases ago at Michael's and I don't have the information about them anymore. The buttons are some I picked up at Tuesday Morning and the twine is Martha Stewart baking twine that was in my stash.
I used my Corner Chomper to round 2 of the edges and inked around some of the edges with Distress ink (vintage photo).

Not a card!
This is an unusual post for me. First of all, it's not a card. Second, I'm entering it into more than one challenge, I don't usually manage to get that accomplished. This is for the Simply Sunday challenge at Getting Cricky where the challenge was to make something for summer. It's also going to the Wobble Wednesday challenge (not a card) and the Fantabulous Cricut challenge (bug).
I made this for a friend who graciously has our annual end of the year party at her house every year. We sit on her patio and discuss the school year and laugh at the silly stories we all have. It's a good time!

Christmas card
The sentiment is from the K Andrew designs Winter Wishes set. It is a mix and match set so you can make all sort of sentiments by using one set. The flourish on the corner is in the set as well.
I think I will add some other embellishments before I actually use the card. It needs some bling or something.
