Getting Cricky day

Hi everyone. It's Thursday and my day to post at Getting Cricky. I made this fairly simple card around the sentiment I chose. I happened to have a Spellbinders strawberry die which worked really well with the sentiment. (excuse the photo, my camera is still MIA)

I used the K Andrew Designs Food for Thought stamp set and my favorite new paper pad, Loolah from Creative Imaginations. (I may need to get another one.) The circles were cut with a Sizzix circle die. There is also some seam binding along the top of the red piece. Some of the pieces are raised with foam tape so there is some dimension on the card.

Office...

That word holds such different meanings for people. Some people enjoy going to the office. Some people enjoy watching "The Office". We always dreaded getting "sent to the office" in school. Regardless of how you feel about the word, most people conjure up pictures of the supplies you find there when the word is mentioned. Today's challenge at My Paper Crafting is geared toward those items.

I used the Sentimentals cartridge to cut the pen and scissors for this card. (the picture isn't the best, sorry, my camera has disappeared:/ ). The paper is from one of the MME Lost and Found 6 x 6 stacks. I cut both items at 3" and they both fit on the card pretty well. There is some washi tape behind the notebook paper layer that's hard to see in the photo. The pen is a little higher that the scissors to add dimension. It's in need of a sentiment but I couldn't find one that worked for me tonight. (It's been a really weird evening.) I'll find one before it finds a home.

3D day

Hi everyone!

This week at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge we were supposed to make a 3D project. The timing was great as I had a baby shower to attend and needed a gift. The new mommy is expecting twins (one of each)! I made this frame for her to fill with pictures or other mementos from their early lives.

There are two Cricut cuts on this frame and a bunch of other things. I didn't overdo it because I know the mom is keeping things pretty minimal in the nursery. There is no theme so I just picked a pack of paper from Walmart that had some cute things that worked for both boys and girls.

The theme of the shower was "two peas in a pod" so I cut the peas from the Savory cartridge at 3". I cut the 2 peas out of light beige paper and drew little sleeping faces on them. There's still room in that frame for a small photo. The cut is attached to the paper under the glass. The other cut, the carriage, is from the Best Images of 2010 cartridge. It was cut at 1 3/4". I adhered it to the glass so they can put a photo under it and not worry about covering it up. There is a little bling on the wheels as well and I didn't want that to scratch the glass.

This is a picture of the whole thing. They have cherry wood cribs so this should work. There are several other elements in/on different frames including embossing, a Wild Orchid Crafts flower and seam binding, buttons from Walmart, and butterflies from a Martha Stewart punch. It's hard to see but there is some dimension on the piece with the clouds. I cut out one of the cloud/rainbow combos and elevated it with glue squares. There are also some hearts punched out with an old tiny heart punch and attached with some dimensional glue squares. 

Even though it's not fancy it turned out pretty cute, and she really liked it which is the most important thing!

ATC/Tag day!

Today is ATC/tag day at My Paper Crafting. I keep making ATCs, I think I like them!

The background paper is from the Authentique Essentials 6 x 6 pad that I picked up at Hobby Lobby recently when it was 50% off. There is some great paper in this little pad. The border on the top is cut from the reverse side of the main paper. The chipboard button is from my Webster's Pages box and the rose on top is from WalMart. I picked up the twine at Michael's (it's probably Recollections but I don't have the package anymore. The border was punched with a Martha Stewart edge punch. I find myself using this one quite often. The sentiment is a KAndrew Designs stamp. I used a combination of regular red ink and Antique Linen distress ink to stamp the sentiment and edge the pieces.

The challenge this week at My Paper Crafting's Crafting with Cutters challenge is to do something with a book. I teach high school so I thought I'd get a jump on graduation and incorporate that into my project for the week.

Our school colors are teal, black and gold (can you tell??). I cut the books at 3 1/4" from the Locker Talk cartridge. I've used that one for room decorations, passes and other things for school over the years, it's quite useful! I used Everyday Paper Dolls for the graduation cap. It was cut at 1 1/4" and I had to turn on the "real dial size" button to cut it at the true size. It's meant to cut it proportion to the doll so it would have been too small had I not hit that wonderful button on my Cricut. The paper is a variety of things I have picked up at Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby and Michael's. The stamp is also from a set I picked up at Tuesday Morning.I did use Stazon ink because the teal paper has a bit of a texture to it and I didn't want it to smudge. The books and hat are all on layers of foam tape to give the card some dimension.

Getting Cricky Day

Hello...

Today is my design team day at Getting Cricky. I just got the Love you Latte Cricut cartridge and wanted to use it for my post today. I don't buy many cartridges anymore, but I really like a lot of the images on this one.

This is called a teapot on the cartridge but it looked like an old stove top (or camping) percolator to me, so I used it. I cut it at 4" and the size was perfect. There are papers from Authentique, Graphic 45 and Recollections on this. The card base is a kraft card by Recollections. The pearls are from my stash and I put some glossy paint on the background brown sections. The pot is raised off the card with foam tape while the rest is flat.

The sentiment was stamped using the K Andrew Designs Coffee and Tea for You and Me set. I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink to stamp the sentiment. Unfortunately this set is sold out, but there are two other coffee themed sets that you can check out here.

Color and shape

Hey everyone. Today is my day to post on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog. Today the challenge is to use a triangle and the color yellow.

I found this great seahorse cut on the Art Nouveau cartridge and decided to use it as it form a natural triangle. It was cut at 4" using a variety of solid color papers from my stash (most were scraps). I cut the triangle by measure and marking where it would fit under the shape. I decided to round the corners of the triangle to give it a bit more of a subtle shape. The background patterned paper is from a Martha Stewart pad I got several years ago. There are Stickles on the seahorse and seaweed. The pearls and bubbles are stash items and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. 

I like the way it turned out, but it may have been better to put another solid mat behind the patterned paper. I'm not sure, what do you think?
