Positive Thursday - work in progress...

Happy Thursday! I can't believe how fast Spring break has gone:/... On a happier note, today is my design team day at Getting Cricky! I ventured into the world of the "tube mini". Most of the time these are done with toilet paper tubes, but I used paper towel rolls because I wanted to mess around with the size a little. The theme is a kind of inspiration/affirmation thing which I really need heading into the last part of the school year and major "testing season".

Each of these "pages" is about 1/4" shorter than the one behind it which you can see better in the picture below. The papers are a conglomeration of different brands and styles, I think there's MME, Cosmo Cricket, etc. The sentiments are from the K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamp set. It is sold out at the moment, but I will include a picture of it below. There are still stamps available for up to 60% off so head over there and see if there's something you might like!

Two of the tags inside were made from regular scrapbook paper, and two are DCWV chalkboard paper. My thought is to stamp and embellish some, and attach some chalk or a chalk pencil to the book and be able to write quotes or thoughts on the tags as they come up.

The gorgeous ribbon on the spine was a prize/RAK from Becky at Squirly Girl Creations, she's such a sweetheart! It was weird, really, I picked the papers and ribbon all happened to match them all. The green border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. The seam binding is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

As promised, here's a picture of the stamp set I used.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

Hello-

I'm so sorry this post is late, it's the week before spring break and things are crazy nutso right now.

The theme for the Tags/ATC day at My Paper Crafting  is Purple!! I love purple, it's one of my favorite colors!

I made this ATC with some purple Paper Studio paper mounted on some white card stock to give it a little more weight. The bling down the side is Recollections.  The crocheted flower is from Michael's as well. I like purple and white together so I added the white carnation from Wild Orchid Crafts. The little flower center is also from WOC. The piece behind the flower is actually really light purple and was cut using a Spellbinders die. I stamped the sentiment with white Martha Stewart ink.

Oh, I forgot! I spritzed the background with some home made pearl paint spray that added some shimmer to the background.

Have a great day!

Spring

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today at My Paper Crafting the theme is spring. With thoughts of flowers and rain and puddles in mind, I created this...

The colors are slightly muted on my card, I think in part because it's been a bit dreary here the last few days. Spring in my part of the world does include rain and umbrellas. This cute little girl was cut from "A Child's Year" Cricut cartridge at 3 1/2". The background paper is one I picked up on clearance at Michael's over the weekend. It is a double sided piece by Basic Grey, from the Out of Print collection. I really like it and may need to go see if they have a couple more sheets. I embossed the flowered side with the Juli's Garden Cuttlebug folder. I inked over the embossing with a yellow ink pad I picked up somewhere along the way. All of the edges of the background pieces were slightly distressed and inked with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The seam binding was from a friend. I actually chose part of the color palette to match it. The flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the bling and pearl are from my stash.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and great beginning of Spring!

Spring is in the Air - Fantabulous Cricut

Welcome!

Today we are celebrating spring at Fantabulous Cricut! The challenge this week was to do something with a kite or balloon and here's my card.

I don't know why, but I had a really hard time with this. I guess I'm having some mojo issues, maybe because it's almost spring break! I really liked the background paper and let it be the jumping off point for my card. I got one of the Webster's Pages boxes from the last sale and this was one of the pieces in the 6 x 6 pad. I think I threw away the page that says what collection it's from:/ The shimmer paper on the kite and clouds is from "The Paper Studio" from Hobby Lobby. I used some glossy accents on the rainbow to make some of the stripes stand out.

The kite was cut from the "Nate's ABCs" cartridge at 2 1/2". There are cuts for the tail on the kite, but I liked the green so I didn't use that part. I got a new Cuttlebug folder today at Michael's and used that on  the project as well.

It's my day to post at Getting Cricky. I decided to make this a dual purpose post this week. I'm going to enter this card into the DCWV monthly sketch challenge after it is posted on GC.

It's an A2 size card and I used the Performance Matstack for all of the papers. There are some vellum sheets in that stack, so there is a layer of vellum on top of the black, and the banner is made from the vellum. I have a little banner die that I used to cut it. It's really cute but it cuts all of the pieces separately so you have to be careful not to lose them:/. The flowers are a from Michael's (large) and Wild Orchid Crafts (small). The circle was cut from a Spellbinders Nestability and the red border was cut with a Martha Stewart punch. And last, but certainly not least, the sentiment. It is from the K Andrew Designs Positive Thoughts stamps set. There are no more of these in stock, but you may be able to pick one up on ebay or someplace like that.

I know I'm ready for the weekend. I hope everyone has a great one!

Feel the love

Welcome to the I Feel the Love monthly post at My Paper Crafting. Lovely Miss Madison chooses a donor every month for people to send cards to. This month is 4 year old Claire, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. You can read more about her, and IFTL, here. Here is the card for Claire.

The carousel horse is from the Carousel Cricut Lite cartridge. It was cut at 4" from DCWV paper. It's on an Action Wobble so it moves. I inked around the edges with pink ink. There are some stickles on the black saddle part but it's hard to see. Have a great day everyone and think about making a card for Claire.

Bye Bye Birdie

Welcome...
to my first official post for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog!!
I'm very excited to be joining this wonderful group of really talented crafters.

The theme for this week is "Bye Bye Birdie". I used the Art Nouveau cartridge to cut this wonderful little hummingbird.

This cartridge is great because it has suggested cutting sizes in it. In other words, cut it at least __ big to make sure everything cuts nicely (each cut is different). It suggested 3" for this cut, so I cut it slightly larger at 3  1/2".

I chose the background paper for this first, and then found some coordinating paper in the pad, and in my stash, to use for the bird and background pieces. The patterned paper I used is from the My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad, All Spice. The solid is all stash paper.

The beige piece behind the circle was cut using a Spellbinders die. I cut it out and then cut it in half and spread it out behind the circle. The teal piece down the middle is from a Martha Stewart punch. I used my I-rock to adhere the heat fix gems to the top and bottom of the piece and the dot on the "i" on the sentiment. The sentiment is from K Andrew designs.

I hope you'll all join us for this fun challenge. I look forward to seeing all of your creativity!
