Shameless plug for Duffy Barkley

A friend of mine has written a book called "Duffy Barkley is not a Dog". She has a blog about the book that can be found at http://duffybarkley.blogspot.com/ . Check it out! I just started reading it, but at one point found myself forgetting I was reading I was so into the story. That's usually a pretty good sign that the book is going to be good.

Dixie self-published the book and is using a lot of the money she makes to buy more books to donate. She is a crafter of words, not paper, but we should all support each other, right?:-) Have a great weekend.

Christmas card challenge

I'm putting this on the Christmas card challenge at My Pink Stamper. It's a 5"x7" card. The paper is from DCWV. All but the glitter paper is from the Homemade Christmas stac k. I inked around the edges of the card with 2 shades of distress ink, one brown and one red. They worked well together. The ribbon is something that was on a present (throw things away, seriously??) The pearl paint is Viva Decor. The ornament is from the Joys of the Season cartridge and is popped up with MS foam dots. The sentiment is inside.

Birthday Hedgehog

This card is for a friend's birthday. I'm entering it into the birthday challenge at My Pink Stamper. The hedgehog is from the Four Legged Friends lite cartridge. He is so cute! The paper is a combination of things, some DCWV and some random paper from my stash. I got the flowers at Tuesday Morning and the gem on clearance at Walmart.

Action Wobble card

I made this with the Gingerbread cartridge and an action wobble. Those things are so much fun to play with. I'm being very stingy until I can buy more. I cut the gingerbread people out at 3 1/2". The green snowflake is MS punch with an Irock gem in the center. The small snowflakes are from a Fiskars mini cartridge punch with a hint of Stickles in the center. The polka dot paper is K and Company. The rest of the paper is from my stash. (Been collecting a looong time). The ribbon is from Michael's. I'm going to attempt to add the video as well as the picture. Hope it works.

Turkey card

This card is for the challenge at Momo's blog. I'm not happy with some of it. I need to practice cutting that card, my sides weren't even. Anyway, the challenge was to use a turkey, so here it is. The cartridge was Create a Critter. The paper was a combination of things from my stash. I used a sharpie for the lines and MS foam pop ups under the turkey. My camera died while I was doing this. I may try to take a better picture tomorrow.

Crafters Digital Art and CES

I tried some digital art this week. I definitely need to work on my coloring, but it's fun. Here are the cards I did for challenges there. The pumpkin/corn image is from Digi Drawn and the mouse is from Nana Vic. They were both colored with prismacolor pencils. Most of the paper is from my stash. The paper behind the mouse is DCWV. The polka dot piece was cut on my cricut (Wild Card cart., I think). I'm entering the pumpkin card in the CES challenge as well, as it is all about autumn. It also includes piece embossed with a cuttlebug folder behind the pumpkins. I use MS foam to raise the pieces for the layers. The background piece is actually much more green than it photographed.

30 minute card

This was fun...30 minutes to make a card from start to finish using pink, purple and green. I used a variety of scraps and the Create a Critter cartridge. I ran out of time to stamp a sentiment on the front as I couldn't find anything I liked (yes, I set a timer). The ribbon matches the tummy better in person.

Male Birthday card

This card was for a challenge at C.E.S. challenges. The challenge this week was to make a male birthday card. I have a friend who just had a big birthday so this is in his honor (not sure I'll actually send it, I'm bad about that). The mountain goat is from the wildlife cartridge. I used 2 different embossing folders and distressed the card slightly. I used Tim Holtz distress ink on the stripes and around the edges of the card. The sentiment is on the inside but it's not photographed. It just says happy birthday. http://ceschallenges.blogspot.com

Two challenges

This turned out a little "Eastery", but I guess that's ok. I started with the pink for breast cancer awareness month and went from there. A change from the Halloween cards of late. A "sassy" challenge and a sketch challenge. It's late so I'm posting quickly and may add more information tomorrow, we'll see. The top is embossed with a music folder. The paper is shiny but that doesn't show in the picture.

Simply Betty pumpkins

This challenge was to put a pumpkin in the card. I used a digi for the second time. I need more practice coloring, but they are fun to use! This is probably the darkest card I've made, but I like it. I embossed the background paper which has a large spider web pattern. The pumpkin is from the Oct. 31st Cricut cartridge.

Throwback Thursday challenge

This is for a the Throwback Thursday challenge at creativetimeforme.com (Emma). The challenge was to use an animal from Every Day Paper Dolls. I chose the bear and made it a polar bear. The papers are an assortment from my stash. The snowflake punch is MS and I used the Irock in the centers. Had a little trouble stamping the sentiment and ended up going over it again with a white pen. It worked!

Halloween: Orange, black and purple

This was my first swing card and I definitely need to practice!! I will use colored cardstock next time and not try to cover it. All of these wonderful learning experiences;) The raccoon is from Create a Critter.

S/Z fold Halloween card

This card was made using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge and mostly K and Company paper. The glitter paper was in my scraps. The foam is from EK Success. The center section was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Give away and challenge

There is a give away going on at Fun And Mental Changes. There's also a challenge. Check them out at http://fundamentalchange.blogspot.com. Have fun!

Karber Monthly challenge

This is my first time using a digital stamp. I bought the "Cup of coffee" yesterday because she was so cute and seemed very versatile. I made her into a witchy cup full of witches brew. She is colored in orange but looks pink in the picture. The sentiment inside says "Have a brew-ti-full day". (corny, I know) The rest of the card is made from a K and Company Halloween pack. The punch is MS. The bling on her hat was added with an Irock. She is popped with foam tape from EK success. It is a gate fold card.

Simply Betty challenge

I found this late but wanted to play. There had to be a skeleton involved somehow. I had lots of "cute" skeletons but wanted to try something a little spookier. It doesn't measure up to the other entries but it was still fun to do! There is glitter paper behind the skull to make it a little less plain.

Cartridge least used

I really had to have the Summer in Paris cartridge. I've made one cut from it. As you can probably tell from the card, it's not my favorite. Maybe I just need the right inspiration. A trip there, perhaps:) There is bling on the card but it's hard to see. The picture on the top shows the color more correctly and you can see the bling a little. The other pic shows the dimension. The black design on the background paper is flocked.

Frog

This frog is made from scraps of orange, yellow and green. I just got the Create a Critter cartridge and had to try it. I also used the Irock for the green spots. The yellow ribbon is felt ribbon from Michael's . The frog and the sentiment are both popped with foam tape.

Bird card

Still having photography issues. One is too dark, the other is a little off with the colors. The paper is DCWV and MS. The cuts are from the Pagoda cartridge.

Throwback Thursday challenge

This was made with the K and Company Spooktacular paper pad. No cricut involved, although I did use a cuttlebug folder. The rest was cut with a paper cutter or scissors. The ghost is popped with MS foam but it's hard to tell.

Halloween Card

I need to work on my photography skills. The colors are a little off and you can't see the 3D effects. Hmm...
The orange paper has been embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and the image is raised with MS foam dots. The gate is from the October 31st cartridge.

First challenge

Ok, so I put something up on a challenge for the first time. It's a little unnerving....

This was made for the Cuttlebug Challenge birthday challenge. I'm not sure I'll actually enter it, but it was fun to do. The green background and the top of the cupcake were embossed with 2 different Cuttlebug folders.

This pattern is one of Laura Denison's designs. It is made from Tim Holtz grunge paper. I made it for a friend who likes giraffes (did you figure that part out?).

The image is from Forever Young. The yellow paper was embossed witha Cuttlebug folder.

This CD holder was for a friend who just had her first grandson. I got the pattern off the internet, but forgot to write down who it came from. If I find it again I'll post it. The image is from Child's Year.

Cards

I am going to attempt to post one or two pics. Hope it works.

New blog

I want to try to participate in some challenges using my Cricut and I needed a place to post them. I'm not sure how much will get done, but at least it's here when I want to use it.
