April Showers
Create a project using an umbrella

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

Here is my project for the week:

As you can see I went with a different type of umbrella for my project. I live in Florida and it's the beginning of beach season in April, not the rainy season. I actually found this cute umbrella on the Dude cartridge. I think I've only used this cartridge once so I decided to go for it and see what happened. I like the cut!

The clouds were cut from watercolor paper. I watered down some blue ink and put it around the edges to make them less stark. I actually used the back of one because I liked the way it bled through. The "sand" was scrunched and then rubbed with Distress ink. I sprayed a little shimmer spray on it to give it a little more depth (that really doesn't show in the picture).

I hope everyone enjoys this week's challenge and has a great week!

Easter
Create a project using a bunny or an Easter project

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

I made a mixed media project this week. I need to practice this a LOT more, but they are a lot of fun.

I used this cute little digi from Aurora Wings called the Sleepy Bunny Elf. They have some really great digi's in the Etsy store, check them out! I love using digital stamps because you can make them almost any size you want. This canvas is 5" x 7" and I could have made the digi fill the whole thing if I wanted. I colored it with Spectrum Noir markers for the skin and Promarkers for the rest. The Cricut cartridge I used was Pooh and Friends. The moon was cut at 1 3/4", the stars at 1 1/4". The grass pieces were cut at 1 1/4" and 1 1/2".

I put modeling paste on the canvas through a stencil and let it dry. When it dried I dry brushed the purple and blue over the paste. I used some satin Mod Podge to put on some white tissue with glitter. There is glossy accents on the moon. One of the grass pieces is on a double layer of foam tape. The digi is on a single layer of tape. I used my Dymo label maker for the sentiment. It didn't want to stay down, even with glue.

Have a great week everyone!

Sketch Challenge
Create a project inspired by the following sketch:
Sketch is from Card Positioning Systems

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used.

This was a fun sketch! Have I mentioned I love sketch challenges? Here is my card:

I picked up the theme from last week (use a cut or a cartridge you've never used) and incorporated it into my challenge this week. I've never used this cut before, and I'm not sure I've ever used the cartridge. This image is from the Freshly Picked cartridge. There are some really great cuts on there, especially for spring/summer. I cut the image at 3". All of the solid paper is from the packs that Michael's and Joann's have had on sale for the last few weeks. I'm not completely happy with the look of this card, I think it could have used some embossing one the background and maybe under the ribbon. Any thoughts on that? I really would like some input.

Have a great week everybody and please come join the challenge!

Supplies:
Cricut cartridge - Freshly Picked
Paper: solid packs from somewhere
Patterned: Studio Calico Sundrifter
Martha Stewart punch
Ribbon - Recollections
Stamp - KAndrew Designs
Ink - Distress ink Festive Berries

Mr. Duck

A friend of mine had a birthday last week and this is the card I made for him. He told one of his students he liked Donald Duck, so that's what I put on his card. There is a running joke in his class about him getting angry when a certain word is used (flip) in regard to math, so I used that as my inspiration. This is the front and Donald is cut at 5" from the Mickey and Friends cartridge.

This is the bottom of the inside. I put something about not "flipping out" and enjoying the day as the sentiment and put a more calm looking Donald, cut at 3", under it.

I'm not sure he completely appreciated the attempt at humor, but he did like Donald!

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.

Supplies:
Cardstock - Recollections
Cartridge - Mickey and Friends
