Boat

The challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut was to do a boat in honor of Columbus Day. My boat is a little juvenile looking because of the colors, but it turned out ok. I did the colors on purpose as I'm not sure who will end up with this one. My daughter babysits so it could go to a child or possibly one of the many teachers who are retiring this year from the school where I teach. The only sentiment is the "Smooth Sailing" from K Andrew Designs Splashtastic Summer set, and that could work for either as well.

The card looks very plain from the front, but it is actually an easel card. The boat was cut at 3 1/2" from the "Best of 2010" cartridge. I believe it was originally on the "Pack your bags" cartridge. I embossed the waives with a Darice embossing folder and inked it with a combination of blue and green Martha Stewart ink. (You can't see it much in the picture.) The papers were a combination of Recollections and The Paper Company. The background embossing folder is a Tim Holtz Sizzix folder. The boat looked a little plain as I was putting it together so I hand drew the stripes around the top. I may widen the bottom one at some point, or possibly add something else, depending on the recipient.

This is a side view of the easel. They are fun to make and adds just a little more interest to the piece.
