So Grape

The challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2 this week is a food challenge. I made this all on  Design Space. Pierced and stitched circles are all the rage right now, and the Cricut cut the circles with the stitching very neatly. Sorry my picture isn't great, I was having some lighting issues.

I used clear Wink of Stella on the ice pop to make it look cold. I used Dusty Concord Distress Ink for the sentiment. I forget how much the paper sucks it in sometimes, it got a bit more "distressed" than I would have liked, but it's ok. The sequins are from Cartwright.

CAS challenge

I am bound and determined to play along with as many challenges as I can this summer, even if they are things I've never done before (or rarely done). The theme of the challenge this week at CASology is kids. Here is my card.

To be honest, I liked it better before I stamped the sentiment, but it's ok. The girl is an image from the Cricut Nursery Rhyme cartridge. The sentiment is from KAndrew Designs. The background is embossed with a star folder from Darice. I used the slice feature on Cricut Design Space to slice the shadow from the white paper and then cut a rectangle with a pierced rectangle die from My Favorite Things. I used foam tape to raise it off the page and glued the blue image directly to the background.

Don't be crabby

The challenge this week at Bitten By the Bug 2 (BBTB2) is to use a lobster, or a crab, in honor of lobster day. I love the crab on this image, so even though he's not the focal point, he's there.

The sentiment from KAndrew Designs (no longer in production) also helps put the focus on him. The image is from Sesame Street Seasons. The little frame is a Sizzix die. The solid paper is Recollections, the wood grain is Webster's Pages, and the chalkboard is DCWV.

I deliberately curved the stamp to form a bit of a smile since the image on the front is a bit frown like. I hope everybody has a great day!

Say Cheese

This is for a friend who is going through a bit of a rough patch. The inside says "focus on today and you'll be ok." I think it's a good reminder for her right now.

I used the camera2stamp set and coordinating die from the Stamps of Life for the camera. The circles are from the Bunch of Fun Circles set by My Creative Time. The solid paper is Recollections, and the patterned piece is from KI Memories. I put some Glossy Accents on the lens and view finder to make it look more like glass. The sequins are from Cartwright.

hello my friend

It's summer and that means I have more time to play...happiness!! One of my goals for the summer is to participate in some challenges. I miss doing that. The challenge this week at Just Us Girls is to use a stacked die cut.

I used a cute "hello" die from The Stamps of Life. I let the paper be the main focal point of the card and just added a few things. It's really simple, but I like the way it turned out. The stamp is from KAndrew Designs.

Cherry Limeade card - finally

The challenge this week at BBTB2 was to use a sign or banner on your project. I have always liked the Cherry Limeade cartridge, but have never used it. This was the perfect opportunity! I really like how it turned out, very festive.

It still never ceases to amaze me just how well the Cricut Explore cuts. Those words are all cut out and the letters are no wider than 1/16". I was worried when I forgot to change the setting to intricate, but it worked great without it.

The patterned paper is from my stash and the solid is all Recollections. The sequins are from Cartwright and there is clear Wink of Stella on the drink and the rind of the lime.

You should have arrived here from Karla ------- http://creative-love-affair.blogspot.ca/. If not, and you want to start at the beginning, go to  Fantabulous Cricut Challenge.com.

Here is my inspiration for you

I recently purchased the Sesame Street Seasons cartridge and decided this would be a good time to use it. Cookie turned out really cute, and I love the box. I'm sure I will be making more of them. All of the card stock is Recollections and the twine is from my stash.

The box comes in 2 sizes. I used the larger one for this project. This is two pieces of 8.5" x 11" card stock, so it will hold quite a few cookies :-)

I used red-line tape to hold the box together. It's always a good idea to use something pretty strong if you're going to actually use the item. I just used Tombow mono-multi for the window because it doesn't actually move.

Here it is before adding Cookie Monster.

I used the scoring tool to add a little bit of a furry look to Cookie. It worked pretty well (sorry about the picture...my camera didn't like taking the close up).

If you would like to create this box, here is a link to the Design Space file. Cookie will cost $$ if you don't already own him as he is a licensed image. The box is part of the subscription.

I also have a little blog candy to give away. You will receive a $10.00 Michael's gift card if you are chosen as the winner on my blog. I really love how the Recollections card stock cuts in the Explore and use it almost exclusively. You can try it for yourself if you haven't already, or put the money toward something you've been wanting. (If you don't have a Michael's close by we'll work something out.) Please make sure you follow the rules above to be eligible.

Now that you have seen my character go visit Liz at her blog Unik by YES and check out her amazing creativity. There is a  list of all the designers on the blog hop below

Happy Hopping
