Mother's Day Card

Today's post at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog the theme is Mother's Day. I had a little trouble doing this as this will be the first one without my mom who passed away in August. While my sister and I are glad she is no longer suffering from the many ailments she had, some times are still difficult to handle.

I used the free cut this week on the Cricut Craft Room for my card. The background paper is very shiny so it's hard to get a good picture. I set the height of the card at 5.25" to get the correct size. It is a tri-fold card so it's quite long. I sized the flowers in CCR by putting them into the opening and seeing what size I liked. You can make it look any way you'd like, which is nice. The leaves were cut from green Recollections paper and the flower petals are purple whitewashed Core'dinations paper.

I embossed the petals with an embossing folder and then sanded them lightly to bring out the purple. I used an EK Success edge punch on the inside flap with the flowers on it. It gave it a little more interest on the inside. I then tied some vintage seam binding from Wild Orchid Crafts around the side of the card and tied a bow. The "pearls" are Viva Decor pearl pen. I didn't put any words on it relating to "Mom" but I don't know who is getting it and will adjust the words accordingly.

I hope everyone has a great week!
